Dog training is a process. The basics can and should be accomplished in 4 - 6 weeks. Generally, every dog should go through three steps of learning.

Every dog is different, every person is different, so should their training plan.
What are your goals with your dog? What is your training plan? What do you want to accomplish with your dog?
I highly recommend an initial consultation at your home, in the dog's regular environment or better yet before acquiring the dog; with the whole family whenever possible. We discuss your particular goals, I get a chance to see how you, the family and the dog interact.
Training is a lot more than teaching your dog how to sit or come, it's patient relationship building. It's just like meeting your lifelong spouse for the first time; your first date is amazing, you make puppy dog eyes at each other and you fall in love, its all positive and it should stay that way. Yes, there will be tough conversations along the way, but with love,, and firm, gentle hand we will have a great relationship.
Always be training!
Training is always a part of the activity. Manners out of the crate or front door or out for our activities, there is always an element of training; how can there not be? Fundamentals are always part of the process.
I know what it's like to hand your dog over to someone else — that flicker of worry, even when you trust them. Our dogs aren't just pets. They're family. They greet us at the door like we've been gone for years, they curl up next to us on the hard days, and they love us without any conditions at all. Trusting someone else with that is not a small thing. So here's what I want you to know: when I'm with your dog, I'm not just watching them — I'm watching out for them. Every walk, every outing, every minute we spend together, I take seriously. Not because it's a job, but because I know exactly what it means to love a dog like family, and I know what it means to be the one responsible for them when you can't be. My goal isn't just to keep your dog safe. It's to give you real peace of mind — so that wherever you are, you can stop thinking about whether they're okay, and just know they are. Loved, looked after, and genuinely cared for, the same way I'd want someone to care for mine. Your fur baby is in good hands. I won't take that lightly.
It's about engagement and mental stimulation. We get out of the house, we are working on leash manners, behaving in the car, going on a hike , walking through Home Depot or hanging out at a coffee shop. This requires your dog to think, to engage with me, to learn how to act in the world and how to be a great companion. It also make for a well-rounded, social dog. It hears the real world; horns honking, people walking near it and everything else that's out there. Just like a child that has been sheltered and home schooled, there is a whole world out there that they need to be able to engage with and starting sooner and regularly is the way to get them comfortable.
This is also a process; I make sure the dog is comfortable with me, then walking and being with me. Then we work towards getting in and out of the vehicle and more importantly, either laying while we drive or comfortable in their crate.
